GOING to the Cholmondeley Arms could prove to be a life-saving experience.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) has donated a defibrillator worth about £1,000 to the Malpas pub.

The defibrillator works by giving an electric shock through the chest wall, in some cases of cardiac arrest, to shock the heart back into a normal rhythm.

The team at the venue received free training from NWAS in using the defibrillator and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Community resuscitation manager at NWAS, Rob Hussey, said: “It’s fantastic the Cholmondeley Arms now has access to a defibrillator and can offer an extra service to its customers.

“Having more defibrillators available locally for these emergencies is crucial to saving more lives.”

Cholmondeley Arms manager Steve Davies said: “I am more than happy to support the ambulance service’s defibrillation initiative.

“Should the worst happen, we would now be in a position to help and make a difference.”
