NORTH Wales Police officers are targeting vandals who have broken part of a Saltney Ferry footbridge barrier.
The fence has been installed by contractors working for Natural Resources Wales, which is carrying out flood defence upgrades to the footbridge embankment.
The footbridge is also being renovated to enable the existing parapets to be dismantled and new parapets installed.
However, North Wales Police has been made aware of people trying to cut through the barrier and use the bridge as a short-cut.
Saltney police community support officer Dan Hughes said those who were damaging the barriers were endangering their lives in the process.
He said: “It’s a danger and North Wales Police would urge residents and the general public to avoid trying to access the footbridge while the maintenance is being carried out.”
Anyone with information should call the force on 101 with incident reference number RC13055277.
