No one was seriously hurt when a car and a tanker collided on the M56 causing traffic issues.

Traffic tailed back as one lane was closed following the accident on the eastbound carriageway close to the Hapsford Services.

Emergency services were called to the incident involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a tanker at around 9.30am today (Wednesday October 29).

Lane three at junction 14 for the A5117 was closed for a short period of time as officers from the Highways Agency dealt with the incident.

Further delays are being caused as lane one is currently closed between junction 14-12 was closed as officers deal with a large lorry suffering from a ‘blow out’ on the hard shoulder.

A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said: “Because of the size of the vehicle we had to close lane one.”
