An alleged victim said she was left ‘disgusted’ after being raped by Nick Crawshaw in his bedroom, a court was told.

The 23-year-old is accused of telling the girl to shush because his mother was home and covering her mouth while he attacked her.

Crawshaw, of West Street, Hoole, denies six counts of rape, three of sexual assault and two charges of assault by penetration between 2010 and 2012 from eight alleged victims.

The retrial at Warrington Crown Court heard evidence from the fifth complainant in the case on Thursday (October 6).

There is a dispute between the defence and prosecution about whether she was of age at the time the pair had sex.

The woman said: “I assume he would’ve realised I didn’t want what was happening to me.

“I feel ashamed and disgusted about what happened. I’m not as trusting any more. I question things a lot.”

She said she left a friend’s party to meet Crawshaw near his home in Boughton in July or August of 2010.

After talking for about 20 minutes, the defendant said they should get her a hoodie from his house to keep warm before going back to the party, the court heard.

The complainant said: “When we got to Nick’s we went up to his room and started going through his wardrobe.

“I sat down on the bed, the next minute he turned round and he had a condom on.

“I remember being shell shocked and I said ‘What are you doing?’

“He replied ‘Shh my mum is downstairs’, pushed me back on the bed and covered my mouth.

“It all happened so fast. I thought he stopped because he realised I didn’t want to and he was my friend.”

She said she only realised what had really happened when they went back outside and Crawshaw threw away a used condom.

The woman added she did not think there would be any reason why the 23-year-old thought she was consenting.

Mark Le Brocq, defending, suggested Crawshaw and the complainant kissed and cuddled in the living room after reaching his house.

He said the alleged victim then asked Crawshaw if he had a condom.

The defence said: “I’m saying you asked whether he had one available because you were willing to have sex with him.

“You had sexual intercourse together to which you fully consented.”

The witness said this was not true.

She first told a friend a few months later, as well as other friends and some family at a later date, the court heard.

It resurfaced when she became aware of Crawshaw’s initial trial.

Mr Le Brocq said: “You are friends with two of the other complainants in the case.

“Is one of the reasons you have come here with your accusations to try and help their cases?”

The witness replied: “No I didn’t want to come forward. I was approached by the police.”

The trial also heard from the complainant’s mother, who said the incident had left her daughter often not wanting to be left in the house alone.

Crawshaw denies all the charges against him.

Judge Tina Landale is presiding over the trial, which is expected to last about three weeks.
