HELSBY'S new PCSO has arrived and is looking forward to tackling the challenges of the area.

Christopher Maddocks, 22, was a special constable while he was a student and enjoyed his part-time role so much that he decided to be a PCSO.

He said: 'I enjoyed the community side of the work I did and I am looking forward to immersing myself in Helsby life and getting to know people.'

Chris believes what concerns residents are minor crimes, such as anti-social behaviour and problem youths.

He said: 'If people have any concerns, no matter how minor they might think it is, they must report them to us.

'They must not think that they are bothering us - that way we will have a bank of evidence to use in any sub-sequent conviction.'

Chairman of Helsby Parish Council, Terry O'Neill, said: 'In order to have a full-time police presence we needed to fund a PSCO and I think by working with our PC, Donna Beswick, this will happen.

'If they can work opposite shifts then the people of Helsby will feel more secure.'

PSCO Maddocks will not be officially appointed until April next year.
