Improvements to Cheshire County Sports Club were celebrated at a special open day at the beginning of January.

The new facilities include an investment of £60,000 in a new fitness suite and studio and visitors tested the equipment, saw sample classes in action and spoke to staff about membership packages.

Granada newsreader Lucy Meacock put the new spin bikes through their paces whilst Lord Mayor of Chester Hugo Deynem and MP for the City of Chester Chris Matheson posed for photographs on the fitness studio equipment.

Manager Jennifer Brookes said: “Many local residents have been coming to The Cheshire over the years and have fond memories of its vast sports facilities and traditional social areas. The open day was a chance to refresh their views, see what we have to offer now; one of the most comprehensive sporting and fitness facilities in Cheshire, meet the team and explore the opportunities to get fit and healthy here.

“As a not for profit organisation we have heavily invested our profits back into developing various facilities over the past 13 years to meet the needs and demand of our users and the wider community, including the County Lounge, synthetic pitches and of course the clubhouse that was opened by Michael Owen and Lucy Meacock.

“We have now invested in our fitness facilities to offer the best value option for people to get fit along with the flexible and friendly service that we are renowned for.”

Classes in the new studio include spin cycling, hour of power and metafit, hot pilates, yoga and Zumba, and the studio is also available for private hire.

Fitness@TheCheshire annual membership starts from £12.50 per month (concession membership) but you can also ‘pay as you go’.
