A NEW dean of humanities has been appointed at the University of Chester.

A NEW dean of humanities has been appointed at the University of Chester.

Professor Rob Warner succeeds Professor Chris Walsh who has led the faculty with distinction for six years.

Professor Warner, of Spurstow, Cheshire, was formerly head of theology and religious studies at the university and was previously head of theology and religious studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter.

Professor Warner said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed dean of humanities at Chester. This faculty has established an outstanding reputation for excellence in both student-centred teaching and international research, and I look forward to working with a superb team of colleagues and building on these strengths.

“The humanities have always been at the very heart of the church-founded universities, from Oxford to Chester. These subject specialisms continue to be immensely popular with students.

“This is reflected in the high demand for our undergraduate programmes and the rapidly growing number studying with us as postgraduates.

“I look forward to seeing humanities develop an even stronger reputation.”
