A NEW air quality monitoring station has begun collecting data in Helsby after concerns about pollution and fumes emitted in the village.

Cheshire West and Chester Council kick started the process as the authority celebrated World Environmental Health Day on Tuesday.

The monitoring began after residents expressed concerns that the levels of fumes emitted by the Incinerator on Ince Marshes would be detrimental to their health.

During the past few months three similar machines have been installed in Ellesmere Port and one in Chester.
