The Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford has celebrated its 25th birthday.

Around 150 guests marked the occasion with a party on Thursday (June 25), including actor and the centre’s president Matthew Kelly.

Founded 25 years ago by Sarah Kelly, Kate Fox and several families who were wrestling with the challenges of neuromuscular conditions, the Neuromuscular Centre (NMC) now provides support to around 1,000 families.

It recently beat hundreds of other charities to win a GSK Impact Award for its outstanding contribution to improving the UK’s health and wellbeing.

Chief executive Matthew Lanham said: “We wanted to say thank you to those who were brave and determined and founded NMC. We wanted everyone to see how we’d grown and how we plan to develop and grow further.

“It was an emotional event with a lovely atmosphere – a very informal event with a lovely barbecue and an amazing birthday cake baked and decorated by one of our service user’s sister and cut with great drama by sword.”
