Good teaching led to a high school being recognised in top annual awards.

Neston High carried off two awards under the National Good Schools Guide scheme.

The Raby Park Road school scored Gold for boys studying Art & Design (3D studies) and received an Excellence award for those taking Art & Design (Graphics) both at GCSE level.

It received the recognition for out-performing all other English schools in its category.

The prestigious annual awards, now in their ninth year, are based on a detailed analysis of the most recent examination results according to organisers. They are designed to highlight consistently good teaching.

'A proud moment for school'

Acting headteacher Rachel Hudson said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the awards and to be acknowledged in this way.

“This is a very proud moment for Neston High and we are sure it will inspire and encourage all students.”

Organisers say the awards are designed to put the ‘wow’ into teaching.

Teaching at the schools which receive recognition is likely to be very good they explain.

Ralph Lucas, editor of The Good Schools Guide, commented: “Our annual awards scheme is designed to recognise and reward excellence in teaching in every subject area at both GCSE and A Level or equivalent.

“They give individual teachers and departments where teaching is at its very best the recognition they deserve.”
