The death of a person who was pulled from water in Chester today (Monday, June 6) is being treated by police as 'unexplained'.

Police, fire officers, forensic teams, and an underwater search crew were called to the River Dee near Saddlery Way at 1.50pm, following reports that a body had been found floating in the water .

Work is still ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and police say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 1.50pm on Monday June 6, police received reports of a body floating in the River Dee near to Saddlery Way in Chester.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the body was removed from the water. Enquiries are ongoing in a bid to establish the identity of the deceased.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are continuing.”
