BOROUGH Labour MP Andrew Miller 'needs to get out more and maybe write his own Press releases rather than just filling in the blanks from Labour head office'.

That is the response of Tory deputy leader Cllr Gareth Anderson to last week's challenge by Mr Miller for the Conservatives to 'come clean' on their own spending plans.

Cllr Anderson said: 'In the same week he sent out his press release saying the budget contained something for everyone, the local papers were reporting how local people are being ignored by their 'listening' Labour council and how many of our services are being slashed after nine years of hard Labour.

'Anybody looking objectively and intelligently at what the Conservative Party is saying today would never come out with such ridiculous state-ments.

'David Cameron's Conservatives are committed to making both the creation of wealth and the elimination of poverty the central objectives of our economic strategy.

'What Labour is doing instead is stifling us with the highest tax burden ever, including a 76% rise in Council Tax since 1997 and those earning the least are paying the most.

'And what have we got for all this extra spending locally? In the NHS alone in our area next year we will suffer £10m hospital cuts and ward closures, £2m mental health cuts, £1.6m in-house service cuts and half a million pounds of community care cuts.

'Are those Labour's 'right decisions? How about the slashing of our local fire services, vastly increased parking charges and residents' parking schemes, the closure of local post offices, the abolition of Cheshire Police, the scrapping of the £200 Pensioner Council Tax rebate, Government enforced school-reviews, £7,000 per family public borrowing and all just for starters?

'Maybe our MP should write his own 'challenges' in future and not leave himself and his party open to the public ridicule they have yet again.'
