A MOVIE fan chose to erase the memory of his ex-wife to impress competition judges.

Paul Hewston, of Chester, won tickets to a star-studded preview of Jim Carrey's movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in a competition asking listeners what they wanted to blank out.

Chester's Odeon Cinema and Dee 106.3 offered the winner a pair of tickets to the exclusive preview at the Barbican Theatre in London.

Stating that he wanted to remove the memory of his ex-wife, Paul won the all-inclusive trip, including travel to London and accommodation at the Tower Bridge Travel Inn.

Those attending had the opportunity to meet the film's writer Charlie Kaufman (of Being John Malkovich and Adaptation fame), and film and music video director Michel Gondry who has collaborated with artists such as Kylie Minogue and Radiohead.

The comedy, released today, also stars Kate Winslet and follows the fortunes of Joel (Carrey) as he struggles to cope with the fact that his girlfriend Clementine (Winslet) has undergone a groundbreaking procedure to have memories of her former lover erased.
