Moustaches have come and moustaches have gone and a hair-raising amount of money has been raised to support research into men’s cancer last month.
Men (and women!) all over Chester have been taking part in the charity fundraiser Movember to raise cash for men’s health including prostate and testicular cancer.
Chester Catholic High School
Pupils at Chester Catholic High School brightened up the day by painting on moustaches to raise their cash.
Boys and girls alike paid up to have a black tache, choosing from traditional handlebars through to scary pirates.
PE teacher and head of Year 10 Dylan Green said: “We support Movember each year. It's really nice to see the students joining in this time, especially those who would never usually sport a ‘Mo'.”
Customers walking into a furniture store in Chester this month could be forgiven for thinking they had walked into the 1980s.
Alan Ward
Male members of staff at Alan Ward in Sealand Road grew a moustache in aid of the charity.
Store manager Mark Driver, assistant manager Andrew Chard and sales team members Mark Hirst, Terry Dowdeswell, Kevin Trousdale and Peter Lloyd all sported a ‘Mo’ for the whole month of November.
Marketing manager Kathy Lesser said: “One of the sales staff first came up with the idea.
“They were all having a bit of competition between themselves about whose was the best and how they were going to style it as we get further into the month.”

Four members of the team at Crane Bank Garage - John Probert, Liam Nevitt, David Speed and Mike Aplas - raised more than £200 by growing their taches from scratch.
Alexander's
Musicians at Alexander’s in Rufus Court also got in the swing of things for a special Movember fundraiser which included a Miss Movember and Man of Movember competition.
