More than 20 homes have been affected by a power cut near Capenhurst as a result of a broken power line.

Cheshire Police closed Dunkirk Lane, just off the A5117 in Dunkirk, this afternoon (Thursday, September 15) after power cables fell from the line into the road.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said officers attended the scene at around 3.45pm to close the road after the cables were hanging about five foot from the the ground.

Highways England and the region’s distribution company, Scottish Power, were also called to the scene.

A Scottish Power spokesman said 24 properties in the immediate vicinity of Dunkirk Lane are currently without power.

“We have a number of engineers out there now working hard to get the power back on as quickly as possible,” he said.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
