AN EVENING of music, dancing and laughter raised hundreds of pounds to help keep a struggling panto alive.

More than a hundred residents flocked to Frodsham Community Centre to enjoy a cabaret evening showcasing local talent.

The show saw members of Frodsham Panto group joined on stage by local singers, actors and musicians as well as a special version of Play Your Cards Right The evening, called 1 Night Only, was held to raise money for the popular amateur dramatic society who have been forced to cut back on their elaborate performances due to a lack of finances.

Organisers believe that the evening raised more than £800 for this year’s production of Robinson Crusoe, with residents donating money through buying tickets, taking part in the raffle, and paying to take part in the on stage game.

Jay Timms, who was one of the compères on the night, heralded the evening as a massive success saying: “I am really happy with the way that the evening went. All the acts and everyone back stage put in so much effort.

“The support has been overwhelming from so many people in the town. Everyone was really enjoying themselves and we hope to do events like this to raise more money in the future.”
