A major modernisation will soon be unveiled at Blacon post office.

Customers have been promised a new open-plan layout and a wider range of services at the store in The Parade.

The post office will be closed from 1pm on November 21 up to the launch on December 4.

During this time nearby branches in the Carlton Shopping Centre, Blacon and Mill Lane, Upton, will still be accessible.

Area manager Caroline Pritchard said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the post office and will secure services for the future.”

She added the investment marks a commitment to the no more branch closures programme.

After the refurbishment Blacon post office will open from 8.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am-5.30pm on Saturday.

This marks a change from the previous 1pm finish at the weekend.

New services will include online banking deposits and payments, sending funds abroad by Moneygram and Local Collect parcel pickup.
