A Wirral man reported missing to police has been found safe and well in North Wales.

Mark Williams, from Upton, Wirral, was thought to have been somewhere in the Cheshire area, possibly Chester, but on Tuesday night officers confirmed he had been found in Holyhead, Anglesey.

News that he had been found safe and well ended a search for Mr Williams that had lasted more than 24 hours.

The 57-year-old, who lives in supported accommodation, had last been seen getting off a train at Birkenhead Park train station at around 3.30pm on Monday, leading the police to appeal for the public’s help in tracing him because of concerns for his welfare.

Police explained that Mark has difficulties with speech and can become agitated if confronted.

Merseyside Police thanked all media outlets who carried the missing person appeal.
