Man's shock as sparrowhawk flies around his kitchen

RSPB say the bird of prey is rarely seen indoors as man removes it from his house with a spatula

A Newton man got the shock of his life when he noticed a live bird of prey flying around his kitchen.

Adam Currie, 29, was in his garden mowing the lawn when he heard a commotion coming from his kitchen and his dog barking madly.

When he went in to see what was happening, he noticed a sparrowhawk sitting by the sink.

"Considering I live five minutes from the city centre I thought it was quite unusual so I filmed it,” said Adam.

“It was trying to fly out and seemed distressed, knocking things over from the windowsill. I tried to help it fly out with a spatula but it was a good few minutes before it got out and flew off.

“I’ve seen a bird of prey in the wild before but never indoors,” he added.
