A man in his late fifties has been taken to hospital with a head injury following a collision in Frodsham this afternoon (Thursday January 7).

North West Ambulance Service confirmed that a patient had been transported to Aintree Trauma Hospital by heli-med, after the incident outside the town's Morrisons, which involved a pedestrian and a white Ford Fiesta.

Police have now reopened Frodsham High Street after a closing it to deal with the accident.

Emergency services including police, a rapid response vehicle, ambulance, advanced paramedics and heli-med were all on the scene shortly after the incident happened at around 2.30pm.

Cheshire police have thanked the public for their patience during the road closure.

All lanes are also now reopened on the A55 eastbound in Chester, after a car smashed into a barrier just after 4pm.

There were no reported injuries in the incident, but it was causing heavy traffic between the Sainsbury's and Posthouse roundabouts.

Lanes have now been cleared and traffic has eased significantly.
