A lorry driver in his 40s is believed to have suffered crush injuries when pallets fell on top of him as he was unloading his wagon this morning (Monday March 24).

The male driver was parked up in Northgate Street unloading building materials for a shop fit-out in the Forum shopping centre when the pallets toppled over.

An eyewitness said he had spoken to paramedics who told him the casualty was believed to have hurt his leg and suffered a broken rib.

Emergency services were called about 7.25am, with police, fire and ambulance in attendance.

The male, who was conscious and breathing, was taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
