A man had to be rescued from a smoke-filled flat in Boughton this afternoon (May 23).

Emergency services were called to a property on Seaville Street shortly before 5pm.

The cause of the smoke was cooking which had been left unattended on a cooker.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said the casualty was handed into the care of paramedics to be checked over.

Three fire engines from Chester and Ellesmere Port fire stations attended the incident, using a high-pressure fan to clear the smoke.
