A MAN is in hospital with a serious head injury following an assault on the outskirts of Chester.

The 36-year-old victim, from Wirral, was found in a lay by on the A55 southerly bypass near Eccleston at about 5.10pm on Wednesday (September 7).

He is described as having a ‘significant head injury’ and has been transferred to Walton Hospital where he continues to receive treatment.

A man from Wrexham, also 36, has since been arrested on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody awaiting interview.
