A WINSFORD man has denied attempting to murder his Rudheath girlfriend.

Jonathan Setchell, 42, appeared before the Honorary Recorder of Chester Judge Elgan Edwards at Chester Crown Court on Monday.

Setchell, formerly living in Winsford but is now of no fixed abode, spoke only to acknowledge his name and deny the charge. He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Setchell will face a three-day trial at Chester Crown Court starting on March 26.

Setchell, who was remanded in custody until the hearing, was arrested after an incident at an address at Roberts Drive, Rudheath, on the morning of Friday, October

6.

Neighbours called police who found victim Monica Davies in the bedroom of the house where she lived, suffering from a number of stab wounds. She was taken to hospital but was discharged a few days later.
