A man had to be freed from his vehicle after a crash in the Chester Zoo car park.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to release the trapped casualty before he was handed over to the care of the paramedics.

Both Cheshire Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the zoo's main car park off Caughall Road at about 11.50am on Saturday (April 16).

A woman was also treated for 'minor injuries'.

A Cheshire Fire spokeswoman said: "One fire engine from Chester and one fire engine from Ellesmere Port were sent to an incident involving a road traffic collision in the main car parking area at Chester Zoo.

"Firefighters used cutting equipment to release the male casualty, who was then handed to the care of the paramedics."
