CUSTOMERS were left without water in Chester this morning (March 19) including city MP Stephen Mosley.

Dee Valley Water said there were major bursts by fountains roundabout, Dicksons Drive, Newton, Hough Green as well as Clover Place, Lache, and Radnor Drive near Lache Lane.

Affected parts of the city included Upton, Blacon, Curzon Park and Hough Green. Among those to be without water this morning was Chester MP Stephen Mosley, who said on Twitter:

“What a pain. No water this morning. Burst main in Hough Green affecting big part of Chester. To be fixed in 2-3 hours apparently.”

Dee Valley Water said a brief power failure at its water treatment works in Boughton led to increased pressure in the mains which caused the pipe bursts.

A spokeswoman said at 11am today: “Teams were quickly on site to restore supplies to customers and are now repairing the bursts. “The bursts caused many customers to lose their water supplies for a while in Lache, Blacon, Upton and other areas of Chester but almost all customers should now have had their water restored.

“Some customers around Chester might now be experiencing discoloured water. Although unsightly, this poses no risk to human health. Customers are advised to run their taps until the water clears.” “Dee Valley Water is now working to restore supplies to normal as quickly as possible and apologises for the inconvenience.”
