An overturned lorry is causing disruption for northbound M6 traffic this Friday morning (February 5) especially motorists intending to go west on the M56 towards Chester.

BBC Travel reports that the M6 slip road to westbound M56 and the A50 at Lymm are closed, with one lane now closed on the M6 itself causing stop-start traffic northbound at J20, M56 (Lymm Interchange) as recovery work takes place.

A diversion is in operation. Westbound M56 traffic must continue to J21 and return south to J20. There is congestion back to J19, A556 (Knutsford).

The incident was reported about 3.30am but remains ongoing. BBC Travel describes traffic disruption as ‘severe’.

North West Motorway Police says the driver is fine and suffered no injuries. The unit is warning a full closure the J20 exit slip M6 northbound will ‘be in place for the next few hours’.
