A crash involving three lorries is causing major delays of up to eight miles on the M6.

Cheshire Police were called shortly before 9.40am today (December 1) following reports of a crash involving three HGVs between junction 18 and 19 of the M6 southbound between the Knutsford services and Middlewich.

No injuries were reported.

One lane of three heading towards Crewe has been closed and traffic is reported to be backing up towards junction 20 for the M56 Lymm Interchange.

Motorists can expect to face delays of up to 30 minutes in the area.

As a result of the M6 congestion, delays are also reported on the M56 and on A556 Chester Road to A50 Warrington Road.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: "We received a call shortly before 9.40am to an RTC involving three HGV's.

"No injuries were reported. Highways are dealing with the incident."
