The M56 westbound has cleared following rush-hour delays earlier this morning.

Commuters heading towards Chester on the M56 were caught up in traffic after one lane of three between junction 12 in Runcorn and junction 14 in Hapsford was closed.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 8.25am after a tyre, believed to have come off a lorry, was in the carriageway.

All lanes have now reopened and traffic is reported to be easing in the area.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly before 8.25am this morning to reports of a tyre in the carriageway which is believed to have come off a lorry.

“There doesn't appear to be any injuries.

“Highways seem to be dealing with it.”
