THE M56 has fully reopened this morning (Tuesday, November 8) after a lorry crashed off a bridge on to the motorway yesterday afternoon.

The driver – Tony Sainsbury, 42, from Walton in Liverpool – died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the M56 at Preston Brook between Warrington and Runcorn at 3.24pm after the HGV fell off a bridge on to the motorway at junction 11.

The lorry, which was laden with household goods, came to a rest on the westbound carriageway. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
