AN EVENT is taking place to mark International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia on May 18 in Chester.

Organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council and led by the partnership group Lions Pride LGBT Network, the free event is entitled ‘Love Music, Hate Homophobia’.

It will take place on Saturday, May 18, from 1-5pm, in Alexanders, Rufus Court, Chester.

It aims to mark International Day Against Homophobia in a fun way that involves all the community across Chester and wider Cheshire.

There will be live music, information stalls from the council, partners including Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue, Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust, Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, University of Chester, and voluntary groups.

Equality champion Cllr Razia Daniels said: “I am delighted that the council and partners are able to join forces once again to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.

“Last year’s event was a great success and we are hoping for an even more successful day this year.”
