CHILDREN in Saltney Ferry are to get a new play area, thanks to a £125,409 Big Lottery grant.
The existing facilities at the North Street play area will be replaced by a new family friendly play facility with picnic tables and planting schemes to enhance the green space. The funding has been provided via the Big Lottery People and Places fund.
A number of consultation events have taken place with residents in Saltney Ferry and a partnership has been formed between the Saltney Ferry Tenants' and Residents' Association, the council's Play Unit and Social Inclusion Unit, Saltney Town Council, Groundwork Wrexham and Flintshire and the police.
Cllr Peter Macfarlane, Flintshire County Council's executive member for Economic Development, Tourism, Recreation and Leisure Services, said: 'We are delighted that the Big Lottery Fund has recognised the strength of the local partnership, working with all residents in Saltney Ferry.'
