In a mish-mash of the plots of two children's film favourites, Babe: Pig in the City and Homeward Bound, a family of pigs were found trotting around Chester earlier this afternoon (June 22).

While there were no signs they were sent to the city to demonstrate their sheep herding skills or had to cross a perilous mountain range, Cheshire police were still keen to reunite the three piglets and their mum with their rightful owner and called on the public to help them bring home the bacon.

A force spokeswoman confirmed a woman had stumbled across them wandering around Duke's Drive at around 3.30pm.

But far from being disGRUNTled, the intrepid swines were reported to be very friendly.

Happily, their owner has been located and the pigs have been safely returned home - no doubt recovering from their epic adventure wrapped in blankets.
