This is the moment a swan was rescued from a frozen pond in Peckforton.

The beautiful animal was stuck seven metres in the middle of the icy water on Peckforton Hall Lane.

Firefighters from Malpas and Knutsford, were joined by the animal rescue unit, who waded out into the water to bring the swan safely back to shore.

It is not clear whether the bird was injured during the incident at just before 11am today (Wednesday, February 4).

The swan was handed into the care of the RSPCA and taken to Stapeley Grange RSPCA Centre in Nantwich.
