More than 7,000 runners are congregating at Chester Racecourse for the start of the 34th annual half marathon race around the city.

The race begins at 9am with a fun run for children kicking off at 9.15am.

Details of the route, including important race times and road closures, are available here .

The finishing line for the Chester Half Marathon is in Northgate Street near the Town Hall thanks to an agreement with Chester’s Business Improvement District (BID), CH1ChesterBID.

Andy White from race organisers Active Leisure Events said: “Thanks to the support of CH1ChesterBID, we have a grandstand finish in the heart of the city centre and the runners will be cheered home. We really hope the thousands of finishers and racegoers visiting Chester on Sunday take the chance to enjoy everything our city has to offer. We’ll certainly be doing our best to make sure we provide a race day experience people will never forget!”
