PARKING limitations could be in place on Main Street, Frodsham, by next year.

The town council is to write to Cheshire Highways Authority requesting limited times for parking along both sides of the street to prevent cars being left all day and to free up parking spaces for shoppers.

A request will also be made for double yellow lines on both sides of the street to deter double parking and vehicles obstructing bus stops.

Town mayor Dennis Taylor is chairman of the traffic management committee, which recommended the move.

He said: 'We do not want to blight this conservation area with the usual double yellow lines, so we are requesting environ-mentally sensitive lines which will be less bright and narrower than usual but carry the same restrictions.

'We are trying to keep traffic moving on Main Street and clear parking spaces for shoppers.

'The highway is also being obstructed by double parking along there.'
