One of West Cheshire’s premier village pubs has welcomed on board a new landlord.

Marc Edmunds, son of Steve Edmunds, landlord at the Shippons Inn in Irby, is already well on his way to transforming The Inn at Ness which is owned by Lancashire brewer Daniel Thwaites.

The 23-year-old is to follow in his father’s footsteps by introducing a special food offer at the village pub which includes a free main course with any starter or dessert.

The offer, already a huge hit with customers at the Shippons Inn, is expected to give the Inn at Ness a much-needed boost, restoring the Neston establishment to its former glory.

Marc said: “I can’t believe I’m finally running my own pub, it’s been fantastic watching alongside my parents who have 15 years experience in the trade which will be invaluable in helping me make a success of the Inn at Ness.”

Marc will be joined at the pub by partner Amy Redfern, who will head up front of house operations as he takes charge of the kitchen serving a range of locally sourced dishes.

Marc added: “We want to make The Inn at Ness the food destination it deserves to be so by creating an offer exclusive to us and the Shippons we are really setting our family pubs apart from the competition.

“The offer has gone down a storm with customers in Irby and I have no doubt this will be replicated here in Ness.”

Alongside the new menu offer, the pub will also serve a range of hand-pulled cask ales, including Wainwright Golden Ale, Lancaster Bomber and Thwaites Original.

Andrew Buchanan, director of pub operations at Thwaites, commented: “We’re delighted that Marc has taken over at the Inn at Ness. Marc has gained a great deal of experience running the Shippons Inn with his parents and is now more than ready to go it alone.

“We’re confident that he’s the right landlord to continue the pub’s illustrious legacy and will be offering him all the support to ensure the business’s success.”
