Teams of residents and council staff sprang into action to plant bulbs.

Ledsham will have a wonderful splash of colour come spring time after Ledsham and Manor Action Group and the borough council teamed up to plant about 5,000 daffodil bulbs.

Staff from the council’s Streetscene and Localities teams joined local residents in a community bulb-planting day.

The bulbs were planted in Ledsham Road in glorious winter sunshine with the help of the PALS Group (Positive Action for Little Sutton) organised by resident Graham Penness.

Ward councillor for Ledsham and Manor Peter Rooney (Lab), who is also the current mayor of Ellesmere Port, provided funds to purchase the bulbs and joined in on the day too.

Ellesmere Port Whitby ward councillor Karen Shore (Lab), the council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “I’m delighted that council officers were able to work in partnership with local residents and groups to make Ledsham blooming marvellous.

“I look forward to seeing the wonderful display of flowers they’ve created in the spring.”

Mr Penness, who is chairman of Ledsham and Manor Action Group added: “May I add my personal thanks and those of local residents to everyone for a great team effort, it was really appreciated.

“Here’s to more similar co-operation in future.”

Those taking part included Laura Pallaro and Steve Hewitt from the PALS group as well as borough council staff.
