It's the last chance saloon for Hoole to win one of the hotly contested Great British High Street Awards.

Hoole is in the running for Best Local Centre, but voting ends at midnight on Friday (November 18).

The Chronicle reported that the popular city neighbourhood had slipped into second place in its three-strong shortlist last week.

So with the deadline imminent, Notting Hoole – the community group behind the competition entry – is calling on members of the public to get online and show their support.

Sam Jackson, of Chester Beer and Wine and Notting Hoole treasurer, said: "We won the Best Newcomer category last year, and this year we are really hoping to win the Local Centre award.

"We have been shortlisted to the final 21 from over 900 entries, so we need everyone to pull together for this last couple of days voting.

"As well as being awarded the accolade, there is a cash prize up for grabs which would be spent on community projects within Hoole, so there’s a very good reason for everyone to do their bit this week!"

The awards celebrate the work being done to revive, adapt and diversify the nation’s high streets.

This year saw a record 900 entries across all 14 categories this year, including new categories for individuals and shops.

High street’s minister Andrew Percy is also urging residents to keep voting.

“The Notting Hoole team has worked extremely hard but this is the last push and there’s still everything to play for, so get online and vote now for Hoole to be Britain’s Best High Street," he said.
