A Morris dance group in Lache are reaching for the stars thanks to the support of Sanctuary Housing.

Lache Balmoral Dance Troupe has received £560 funding from Sanctuary’s Lache neighbourhood panel, part of Chester Community Chest, to help with costs for transporting the team to a regional tournament in Rhyl, North Wales, next month.

The troupe, which has been established in Lache for more than 17 years, enables local people from two to 40-years-old to keep fit and active and gives them the opportunity to meet people and visit areas outside Lache.

Sanctuary Housing’s youth engagement officer Libbie Stock, said: “We are committed to supporting community-led programmes such as these. It is amazing to see the dancers of all ages and how the Morris dancing develops their coordination skills. The successful Lache Balmoral team should be very proud of their achievements and this tournament will test their dance skills.”

Jane Beach, who runs the troupe, added: “We are so grateful to Sanctuary Housing for supporting our group. This funding will allow us to attend more competitions which will help to improve the skill levels and confidence of members of our troupe.”
