PLANS are being drawn up to give a much-needed revamp to an overgrown Lache eyesore.

Lack of investment in the Lache Adventure Playground Association (LAPA) field, located behind Sycamore Drive, has seen the five-acre site become infested with weeds and has no suitable access.

But now Cheshire West and Chester Council is preparing to invest funds into the green space for informal use.

Lache ward councillor Alex Tate explained the site could be transformed into an attractive country park.

She said: “The LAPA field has been neglected for several years, and that came about from when Lache was part of the Overleigh ward – Lache didn’t receive as much attention.

“I had a meeting with the chief executive Steve Robinson and it was decided that action would be taken.

“The field is going to be cleared anyway and they might hopefully put a path around it so it would be accessible for walkers and cyclists.

“We are assessing the area very carefully and we are seeing what areas need to be addressed.

“My view is it could be turned into a country park, which would be wonderful.”

A Cheshire West and Chester spokeswoman confirmed plans were in the pre-consultation phase, with a view to getting the Lache community involved by asking local residents how they would like to see the site developed.
