A POST office sub-postmistress was held at knife point in a daylight robbery.

A man armed with an eight inch blade threatened 57-year-old Helen Rimmer in Ashton Hayes post office on Kelsall Road at 9.20am on Saturday (November 8).

The man demanded that she hand over cash from the till before making off on foot.

The robber is described as white, 5’ 5” tall with a slim build, aged between 23 and 28 and with close-shaven blonde hair and blue/grey eyes.

He wore pale blue jeans, a two-tone grey jumper with horizontal stripes and white trainers. The knife he carried is described as a double edged 8” blade.

He is said to have spoken with a Liverpudlian accent.

Police spokeswoman Shelly Williams said: “Nobody was hurt during the incident, however the offender escaped with a considerable quantity of cash.

“Further enquiries are ongoing.”
