THREE Kelsall men are about to embark on a 64-mile round trek along the gruelling Sandstone Trail to raise vital funds for two charities.

Johnny Waring, James Pether and Alex Hargreaves are aiming to complete their marathon challenge within 20 hours.

The run has been organised in aid of Cancer Research UK and The Woodmill Centre (The Disabilities Trust) – causes which are close to the trio’s hearts due to affected family members and friends.

They start their run from the Boot Inn in Willington at 6pm on August 31, heading past Manley Common, Frodsham and Beeston Castle before reaching Whitchurch.

The trio will then head back on the same route with the aim of reaching Willington before 2pm the following day.

Johnny, who plays for Kelsall FC, said: “We’ve done quite a bit of training so hopefully we’ll be fine.

“Over the last couple of years we’ve lost family and friends to cancer so it’s something we really wanted to do. We want to give something back.”

At the weekend, the lads did a bucket collection on the door at Cruise nightclub in Chester which raised £300 toward their total.
