OPERA superstar Katherine Jenkins has announced she will be performing live in concert at Delamere Forest in Cheshire next summer.

Following two sell-out forest concerts this year, the acclaimed diva will be performing further woodland dates next summer as part of the Forestry Commission’s 2009 live music programme.

Re-defining the concept of classical crossover, Katherine has achieved global sales of more than three million. This autumn sees the release of her sixth album, Sacred Arias, from a remarkable mezzo soprano whose versatility has enabled her to tackle a wide variety of styles, from the great arias of opera to the classics of Hollywood.

Her fifth album, Rejoice, outsold such major pop acts as Girls Aloud and the Spice Girls. All four of her previous studio albums went to the top of the classical charts, making her the only artist to hold the top four positions simultaneously. At 28-years-old she is already the fastest-selling soprano ever.

The Forestry Commission is committed to taking woodlands to new audiences and making them relevant to people in new ways. Forestry Commission live music is self-sustaining, paying for itself, and providing valuable revenue to plough back into the woodland in a variety of environmental and social projects.

Katherine Jenkins said: ‘Following my forest tour debut this year I am really looking forward to the opportunity of performing in some more of these beautiful and unique locations in 2009.”

Joined by the National Symphony Orchestra, she will be performing at Delamere Forest on Sunday, June 14.
