ELEVEN jurors visited the scene of the car crash which killed 16-year-olds Dominic Arnold and Tristan Cook on Tuesday.

The A41 was closed for around 10 minutes as jurors walked around 40m from the entrance of Dragonhall estate to the tree the car hit after it spun out of control.

Jurors looked at the point where the car left the road, and, after the road was reopened, watched how cars rounded the bend next to Dragonhall.

On Monday Judge David Hale asked family members not to lay any more flowers on the scene until after the jury visit.

Orange ribbons have been tied around the tree, flowers have been planted in the ground and sports trophies and toys are laid around the tree, which has covered in gold stars.

The jury also visited Sainsbury’s car park and Broxton car park, where the teenagers drove their cars earlier in the evening.

Site visits are undertaken in complicated trials, when it is judged that jurors will benefit from seeing a location in person instead of only in photographs.

To help with court proceedings jurors have also been given maps and aerial photographs of the A41 and Broxton car park, and photographs of the crash scene.

Defendants Michael Wood and Matthew Ferguson were both given the option of attending the scene with the jury, but only Wood attended with his counsel. Defence barrister Simon Mills represented Ferguson on the visit.
