SNOW, frost and rain did nothing to affect the quality of exhibits at the Upton-by-Chester Horticultural Society show.

Despite the poor weather, there were 300 exhibits at the autumn show at the village hall on Saturday, November 1.

Christine Browne won the Best in Show award for her floral art.

Other main winners were: Upton Carnival Cup, Garden Top Vase and Standing Bowl – Danny Lowe;

National Vegetable Medal, the David Miln Cup, the L S Jeffery Cup and the Safeway Cup – Eddie Lloyd; Mrs Epton Cup and Allen Williams Memorial Plate – Peter Stirrup; Dorothy Hurley Cup – Christine Browne, Mrs C Norman and Miss E C Main Cup – Ailsa Clegg; Diamond Jubilee Cup – Brian Cox; Upton Parish Cup – Jeff Formstone; Banksian Medal – Lynne Pearn; Reg and Mary Morris Cup – Masters Gregg Harrison and David Bergstrand; Millennium Cup – Miss Paige Cox.

The Decorated Cake award to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Upton Village Hall went to David Pendlebury.
