A CHESHIRE storyteller wants to hear other people’s stories of the war.

Johnny Gillett (aka The Journey Man) is looking to gather information from anyone who lived or worked on or around Cheshire’s Sandstone Ridge during the Second World War.

Johnny is inviting people to a drop-in session in Bunbury next Thursday, November 25, at St Boniface Church from 2-8pm for people to share their story, bring their photos and relive their memories.

These will make up a bank of stories and information for use in future arts projects.

This month is the 70th anniversary of the bombing of the ridge; bombs which were meant for Liverpool but were dropped there because of the defences of the city.

Bunbury was badly bombed on November 24 1940 and there are many stories of hiding in caves on the ridge, the hospital at Broxton Hall, POWs working on the farms, the Polish Camp at Delamere, and many more.

The project is sponsored by Habitats and Hillforts and administered by Harthill Arts Trust.

For more information on the drop-in session telephone Harthill Arts Trust on 01829-782822.
