The big day has finally arrived for England footballer Jamie Vardy and his partner Rebekah Nicholson.

The couple tie the knot in Cheshire today (May 25), just weeks after Vardy lifted the Premier League title with Leicester City and only a few days after he bagged the winning goal for England in Sunday's 2-1 victory over Turkey at Manchester's Etihad Stadium.

Life is currently like a fairytale for Vardy, who has been given special dispensation by England boss Roy Hodgson to break away from the Three Lions' important Euro 2016 preparations to get married this week.

Here's all you need to know about an event which promises to be one of the biggest celebrity bashes of the year in Cheshire.

Where is it?

The pair have chosen the exclusive and luxurious Peckforton Castle , near Tarporley . Built in the 1840s in the style of a medieval castle, the Grade I listed building has often been used by film and TV companies for location filming, providing the setting for a shows such as Doctor Who and the 1991 Robin Hood film. It was also used by the Real Housewives of Cheshire last year.

The most famous – or infamous – wedding to be held there was in 2011 when a 'massively drunk' groom deliberately set fire to the castle following a row over the bar tab.

About 100 firefighters tackled the blaze which led to Max Kay, from Liverpool, being sentenced to six years in prison.

Former Manchester United footballer Wes Brown was married there in 2009, and ex-Re Devils and Leeds United player Alan Smith had his wedding there in 2015.

Every year, Tarporley High stage their sixth-form leavers' prom at Peckforton .

It looks like a medieval castle - but was built in the 1840s

When is it?

After a bit of chopping and changing, the service will go ahead at 2pm today (Wednesday, May 25).

The couple were supposed to wed last summer but the date was cancelled so Sheffield-born Vardy, 29, could make his England debut.

It was rearranged for this Friday (May 27) but when England changed their plans and announced a friendly fixture against Australia for the same day, yet another tweak was needed so the big day was shifted to May 25.

There will be no honeymoon – yet – but Vardy has been given special dispensation to miss the Australia match before returning to England duty this weekend.

How about the dress?

The look remains a secret for obvious reasons, but the talk seems to be that Knightsbridge-based Caroline Castigliano has been given the job of creating Rebekah's outfit. A dress from that particular designer could set you back between £4,000 and £7,000.

And the best man?

Former Leicester striker David Nugent, once a reported transfer target for Chester City, is expected to Vardy's aide as he walks down the aisle.

Who is going?

Many of Vardy's Leicester City teammates, and possibly fellow England star Danny Drinkwater. The City midfielder is currently on England duty, like Vardy, but Roy Hodgson has given Drinkwater permission to go to the ceremony before heading off to training.

Any star performers?

X Factor winner Sam Bailey will play to the happy couple, along with Tinchy Stryder. An excited Sam tweeted this morning that she was en route to Cheshire...

Who got the photo deal?

Celebrities are no stranger to having big magazines at their wedding, and the Mirror claim the couple have signed an exclusive deal with Hello!

Anything else?

Well, if you want to stay at the property, a night there will cost you in the region of £195 for a night including breakfast.

Who has said what?

  • What's Vardy said about his nerves?

“To be honest if you asked my partner, I don't really get nervous. It's strange. I probably should. But I will probably be nervous when I'm stood at end of the aisle and she's still not turned up yet."

  • What does Roy Hodgson make of it all?

"I hope he will be sensible and I believe he will be sensible. I know he really is desperate to be selected to go to the Euros and do a good job so I'm pretty confident when I see him on Saturday morning he will be fine.

“By all means feel free to ask him if he intends to let down his hair and do some stupid things after the wedding — and if the answer is 'Yes' feel free to batter him in the press!"]
