Chester was dubbed 'a political battleground' in ITV's evening news bulletin which was broadcast live from the city tonight (Tuesday May 6).
With just two days to go before the General Election, ITV bosses decided to broadcast tonight's 6.30pm segment live from The Cross, where presenter Alastair Stewart described the city as 'a prize that the big parties badly want to win'.
And he suggested that as one of the UK's key marginal seats, Chester's current position could be seen to reflect the country as a whole.
Prime Minister David Cameron and Labour leader Ed Miliband know how important the city's votes are, and both have visited the city in recent weeks in their quest for votes, as have Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls.
During tonight's broadcast, ITV correspondents were seen asking a range of local people, including a group of student teachers, what their thoughts were on Thursday's election, with the majority still saying they remained undecided.
One first time voter said: "You feel that this time it really matters. I'm torn between Labour and Conservative because a vote for another party wouldn't really make too much difference."
Another said: "I am really not sure who to vote for because it could go either way."
Chester has always been fought over, it was said, and right now is seen as a political battleground divided between red and blue.
