A Cotebrook pub has been named County Dining Pub of the Year in the pub-goer’s bible, the Good Pub Guide.

The Fox and Barrel is also celebrating being included in the 2015 Good Food Guide for the sixth year running.

Licensee Gary Kidd said it is ‘fantastic’ to be recognised by the Good Pub Guide, which is based upon pub-goers’ recommendations and backed up by editor inspections.

Gary said: “We have been open for six years and this is the second time that we have been awarded County Dining pub of the Year.

“The Good Pub Guide lists over a thousand pubs up and down the country, so to be singled our for inclusion is pretty good, however to win the county award is even more prestigious.”

Gary credits the pub’s success to its ‘personable’ staff and the ‘consistency of our approach’.

Of their inclusion in next year’s Good Food Guide, Gary added: “This is the catering industry’s top guide for restaurants and food outlets in the UK.

“Last year there were only nine restaurants and pubs listed for Cheshire , one of them being the one star Michelin restaurant Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor, so we are in very exalted company.”
